Your Gillybean product is one of a kind - a functional and durable one of a kind piece, created entirely by hand.

Strong & durable - high fire stoneware clay

I’m a thrower (in pottery terms).

I make my pots by throwing them on the pottery wheel. A mesmerising and wonderfully Zen part of the making process.

I don’t use moulds to create pieces - each piece is wheel thrown and hand finished. A degree of variation in shape is all part of what it means to make something purely by hand.

High fire stoneware glazes

I use strong and resilient glazes that are chosen because they are food safe and reliable. Once glazed, every piece is fired to above 1200°c. Surface texture and colour variegation gives a glimpse into the firing process, where glazes flux and flow together in the heat of the kiln.

These differences tell the story behind each piece.

How to care for your pottery

The materials and processes used in the Gillybean studio mean that wares are functional and durable and should last you a long time with correct care.

Tableware is dishwasher safe but frequent dishwasher use can, over time, degrade the surface sheen as many dishwasher tablets are abrasive.

Tableware items may be microwaved.
